Continuing and Further Education 2024 – A Give and Take

Joint training and further education event

University Clinics for Dermatology Bern and Basel in collaboration with the clinics Aarau, Bellinzona, Lucerne, Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG)

Even though the new year 2024 is still in its infancy, a lot has already happened in the field of dermatological education.

Dr. med. Hero Schnitzler, with his dermatology practice, derma competence center in Zurich Enge, had the opportunity to participate with his colleague, Dr. Anna Christina Rast, in the 12th Swiss Derma Day held in Lucerne.

This annual event for dermatologists in Switzerland had the following thematic focuses:

  • Dermatological infections
  • Pediatric dermatology
  • Hair loss and its treatments
  • Skin tumors

Renowned speakers informed the audience about the latest developments in these areas, and collegial exchange rounded off the event.

Dermatologist and laser expert Dr. Hero Schnitzler also hosted and lectured at the first dies academicus 2024 for the “Diploma in Aesthetic Laser Medicine” on behalf of the University of Greifswald in February. This was an important teaching event for laser doctors, especially from the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).

The topics of his lectures were “permanent reduction of hair growth with light energy” (better known as laser hair removal) and “alternatives to laser treatments in dermatology practice.”

These two topics received great feedback from colleagues, and lively discussions and important exchange of experiences took place among the specialists following the presentations.

This is just in the first few months of the year; many dermatological events will follow in 2024. It remains interesting!
