DERM (dermatological practice) Conference for Established Dermatologist Practices.
In March 2019, for the 17th time, more than 2000 participants met for the DERM – `dermatological practice` Conference. Frankenthal Germany once again became the center for one of the largest conferences for registered dermatologists. Many established dermatologists from neighboring countries as well as Switzerland participated, including dermatologist Dr. med. Hero Schnitzler, Head of Dermatology at the derma competence center in Zurich Enge.
This year, the program once again encompassed all the most important pillars of dermatological practice. More than 70 speakers in more than 120 presentations, shared their knowledge of dermatology.
There were courses in all matters of dermatologist’s concerns: hands on, live demos, practical workshops in classic dermatology, fillers, sutures, dermatosurgery, allergology, practice management, lasers and veins.
Of course, the sum of all classical dermatology topics is a broad spectrum; seminars on melanoma and basal cell carcinoma, pre and post care, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, UV therapy, photodynamic therapy and updates on mycology, including a mycology course for skin and nail fungus diseases, to name a few.
Many participants, as well as dermatologist Dr. Schnitzler, furthered their skills and knowledge by taking part in seminars regarding advanced dermatosurgery and in the Dermatosurgery Intensive Seminar with a focus on “tricks of the trade “.
The Allergology for Dermatologists seminar offered attendees information concerning all the latest developments in allergy tests and desensitization; the allergy vaccine.
With regards to topics covering everything to do with dermatological cosmetics, thread lifts, microneedling and fillers were included. Presenters showed new advanced hyaluronic acid for wrinkle therapy and discussed their tissue integration and the role of cross-linking: The key question was: How to retain natural facial expressions with filler injections?
Aesthetic filler treatments for men, anatomical characteristics, live injection demonstrations and combination strategies, as well as the important subject of complications and imaging in aesthetics as success factors in modern dermatology practice, were further topics.
Likewise, with regards to aesthetic matters, innovative subcision technologies for the treatment of cellulite and trends in topical anti-aging were included.
The «Dermatological Cosmetology Association» offered their own workshop for topics such as «Successful Acne Therapy through Adjuvant Dermatocosmetics», Vitamin B3 in Aesthetic Dermatology – the new Blockbuster, Pigment Cell Transfer in Hypopigmentation and Treatment of Rosacea.
Dedication was given to topics on lasers and energy based devices. This included Microwaves, Hyperhidrosis, Radiofrequency for skin tightening and fat reduction, HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) and lipolysis by intense cooling. Further topics included Picosecond platforms for tattoo removal, pigmented lesions, skin rejuvenation and toning as well as new applications in the field of laser-lipolysis and adequate aftercare.
Practical guidelines, tips and tricks for office management where mentioned as well.
The two conference prizes were again awarded for Patient Communication and for Innovation. The awards presented at the conference distinguish the great ideas, innovations and contributions to the practice of dermatology.
The DERM Conference was once again a broad-based training platform for every dermatologist in their field of practice. Dr. Schnitzler greatly benefited from the many seminars and courses for his dermatology practice in Zurich Enge.
