Treatment with high-intensity focused ultrasound (Hifu) is a non-invasive treatment against signs of aging skin.
Hifu is the alternative to the classical face and neck lift. Additionally, skin tightening on the décolleté and other areas of the body is also possible. The results are more natural and, in most cases, more suited to the patient’s age. The cost is significantly lower than the cost of an operation.
Over ten years ago, dermatologists Dr. Hero Schnitzler, was one of the first to use this technique in Switzerland and has since then gained a lot of experience in the area of skin tightening with Hifu.
During the Hifu treatment, intense points of heat are applied to the skin using a special ultrasound applicator. This targeted heat works in the deep layers of the skin and SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system: the fibrous network that connects the facial muscles with the skin).
The heat leads to targeted contraction of these tissues and simultaneously stimulates the production of new collagen. This results in a significant tightening of the skin.
In contrast to the conventional Hifu appliances of earlier generations with linear delivery of the high-intensity ultrasound, this new innovated system at derma competence center, the dermatology practice of laser specialist Dr. Hero Schnitzler in Zurich Enge, works with a massaging, circular delivery. This allows the ultrasound points to be directed and concentrated with more precision on the structure to be treated.
The treatment is no longer as time consuming, no longer as painful as with the appliances of the first generations and also less expensive with clear, reproducible, good and above all natural, beautiful end results.
Individual facial areas take between 20 and 40 minutes, after which the patient can immediately return to daily activities, (there may be slight reddening). One treatment is usually sufficient for a natural result; the optimal result is achieved after two to three sessions.

- Skin tightening on the décolleté, neck, double chin, cheeks, forehead and as well as other areas of the body.
- Wrinkle treatment, especially for the face.
- Reducing sagging eyelids, brows and bags under the eyes.
