Basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are the most common and frequently appear on parts of the body which are exposed to the sun for example, the head, face, nose, shoulders and the back of hands. Melanoma is a skin cancer that can appear anywhere on the body and is a very aggressive. Since skin cancer rarely shows symptoms, early detection by a dermatologist is the best prerequisite for a full recovery. An existing skin cancer can usually, but not always, be treated with various therapies. Once the skin cancer has healed, patients should have regular checkups with a dermatologist.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

What is skin cancer?

How can you recognize skin cancer?

What kinds of skin cancer are there?

Basal cell carcinoma in the lowest part of the epidermis and squamous cell carcinoma in the outer most layer of the epidermis.:

Melanoma skin cancer, in the melanin producing cells.

Rare skin cancers

What is skin cancer screening?

What is skin cancer after-care?

How is skin cancer treated?

Skin surgery: removal by excision

Photodynamic Therapy

Cryotherapy (freezing)

Topical cancer treatment creams

Additional Therapy Possibilities

Overview of different kinds of skin cancer

<span class="scroll-to" data-label="Scroll to: #what-is-skin-cancer" data-bullet="true" data-link="#what-is-skin-cancer" data-title="1.
