Treatment of genital warts and condylomas with established therapies and modern CO₂ laser therapy at the Derma Competence Center.

Genital Warts Treatment: CO₂ Laser Therapy for Condylomas

The Derma Competence Center is expanding its treatment options for condylomata acuminata, commonly known as genital warts, with modern CO₂ laser therapy. Dr. Hero Schnitzler and dipl. MD Marie Renneberg, specialists in dermatology and venereology, therefore offer an additional precise treatment option, particularly for persistent or recurrent lesions.

What are condylomas and genital warts?

Condylomata acuminata are benign skin and mucosal lesions caused by certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV). They commonly occur in the genital and anal areas and can affect both women and men.

CO₂ laser therapy as an addition to established treatments

Several established treatment methods are available for genital warts. CO₂ laser therapy expands these options by allowing visible condylomas to be removed in a targeted and controlled manner. It can be a valuable addition, particularly in persistent or recurrent cases.

Precise treatment under local anaesthesia

CO₂ laser treatment is performed under local anaesthesia. This allows targeted treatment while aiming to make the procedure as comfortable as possible. The exact approach depends on the number, size and location of the lesions and on previous treatments.

When may CO₂ laser therapy be appropriate?

CO₂ laser therapy may be considered when genital warts persist despite previous treatment, repeatedly recur, or when targeted removal of individual lesions is appropriate. The choice of treatment is made after dermatological assessment and individual consultation.
